Job Title: Production Team Leader– Windsor, WI
Reporting To: Production Manager – Ashland/Windsor, WI
Job Purpose:
The Production Team Leader works at our Windsor, WI location. This position is responsible for the operational performance of a production team of direct labor associates. This position is a unique opportunity to bring strong leadership skills and past manufacturing experience to a traditional manufacturing operation. This position will be the key driver to installing Good Manufacturing Practices, LEAN principles and safety in the traditional operation. Size of operation allows for direct, hands-on participation, with production team in accomplishing daily production goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:

Experience in LEAN Manufacturing
-
Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures and One Point Lessons
-
Experience with formal problem-solving tools (Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why, 8-Step Problem Solving, etc.)

Ability to define and drive toward operational metrics related to: Safety Quality Delivery Cost Inventory (SQDCI)
-
Strong mindset toward a continuous improvement culture
-
Safety minded-individual capable of building a basic safety program
-
Medium proficiency in Microsoft Excel (ability to analyze basic data, write basic mathematical formulas, etc.), Microsoft Word

Ability to work under minimal supervision and with limited guidance
-
Self-starter with a high energy level
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Discipline to hold self and team accountable to daily production targets and goals
-
Skills in conflict resolution, team motivation, managing morale, developing a team, etc.

3-5 years’ experience leading a team
Desired Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in a science field, preferably engineering

Experience installing lean systems (5S, Total Preventative Maintenance, Visual Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, etc.)

Ability to define the operational vision and roadmap for the plant

Ability to create and drive a production training program
Physical Requirements:
This position is labor-intensive and may include the following activities on a daily basis based upon workload:

Consistently standing, twisting, bending, and reaching

Walking and occasionally climbing stairs

Lifting 50-pound bags frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionally
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior warehouse experience
-
Mechanical/electrical/construction skills

Knowledge of operational machinery such as blenders, conveyors, compactors, and forklifts
Work Environment:
Deer Creek Seed maintains a high level of cleanliness in our warehouse and office. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in the warehouse where they will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and powered industrial trucks. The noise level in the warehouse can be moderate to loud and the employee will be exposed to dust. The warehouse has a dust collection system in place and the facility is heated in the winter.
Working Hours Full Time: 7:30 – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Overtime is paid at time and a half after forty hours per work week and is available during the busy seasons.
Compensation and Benefits:
Full-Time: This position can be hourly or salaried and is negotiable depending on experience. After 3 months probationary period, employees are eligible for 6 paid federal holidays and 2 paid sick days. A 401k is offered after 1 year and 1000 hours. This position is subject to a 3 months probationary period. After three months, health benefits are available at a discounted, company shared cost. This position earns one week of paid vacation after the first year of employment and two weeks of paid vacation after the second year. Additional benefits include full office amenities (microwave, fridge, break room), and occasional company-paid lunches and dinners for training and holiday celebrations. A discretionary year-end bonus, based on total company performance is the tradition.
