Overview

Sugar beets are not only a great crop for sugar production, but are also a fantastic dual-purpose food plot plant. Deer enjoy the leafy tops for forage and will also dig up the sugary roots to eat in late fall and throughout the winter months. Sugar beets will reach a mature weight of 2-4 lbs. each and provide a solid food source for deer. Cooler weather promotes increased sugar content and makes them an extra attractive food source. To achieve best germination, Deer Creek Seed recommends planting sugar beets at least 1/2 to 1-inch deep.

These sugar beet seeds are not RoundUp Ready™.

Grower’s Note: This seed has a protective coating. Coating the seed helps aid in germination and establishment. For specific information about the coating materials, please call our customer service department at 1-877-247-3736.

are your coated sugar beet seeds sku 835865077849 roundup ready seed?
Our Sugar Beets are not a Round Up Ready seed. Thank you!
Are these Sugar Beets of round up ready type?
Our Sugar Beets are not Roundup Ready.
I was under the impression that sugar beets took 90+ days to mature, however from what I see here it states 30-45 days. Am I reading this correctly? I want this crop to be ready for the NJ Rut in late October / early November and continue as a food source into the late season.
The maturity date on our sugar beets is the actual timeframe for sugar beets to produce seed. Sugar beets are biennial, which means that they need two years before they reach maturity. During the first year, the plants produce a large white root that has a large content of sugar, hence the name. The beets use this stored sugar in the beet root to produce flowers, ultimately producing seed. Sugar beets used for food plots or harvested for sugar production typically don't live long enough to produce flowers or seeds. For wildlife use or sugar production, 90+ days is accurate for adequate root production.
