Joel Hagen is Deer Creek Seed’s Sales Team Leader. He has been with the company since 2007 and specializes in soil fertility, nutrient management, and forage crop production. His primary focus with Deer Creek Seed includes alfalfa variety selection, alfalfa quality standards, and dairy herd production.
Joel received his B. S. degree from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls in Agricultural Business with minors in Agricultural Economics, Farm Management, and Soil Science. His past work experiences include 19 years as an Agronomy Manager overseeing crop nutrient application, crop protection applications, and seed selection. He was also involved in writing nutrient management plans and compliance. He has been a Certified Crop Adviser since 1995 with The American Society of Agronomy.
Joel believes that Deer Creek Seed is unique because of the high quality of service we offer to our customers. Deer Creek Seed’s staff has the agronomic background to ask the right questions before any sale is made or any recommendations are given – and Joel makes sure that this is always the case. Our team knows seed products need to be matched to soil type, soil fertility, soil pH, crop management, and feed requirements to be successful for growers.
Joel grew up on a dairy farm which taught him about pasturing, alfalfa production, and small-scale beef production. Alfalfa and forage products are some of his favorite products at Deer Creek Seed. Joel enjoys helping folks put strategies together to produce high yielding, high quality feed on their farms.
Outside of work, Joel enjoys ice fishing, hunting, and landscaping.
Joel’s sales territory is western Wisconsin and central Minnesota. If you have questions for Joel, please e-mail him at email@example.com.
