Andy Walsh

Andy Walsh is Deer Creek Seed’s District Sales Manager for the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and eastern/southwestern Wisconsin. He started with the company in July of 2015 as a sales representative and agronomist.

Prior to Deer Creek Seed, Andy worked for thirty-five years in agronomy sales, sales management, and then as the agronomy department manager for a local cooperative in east central Wisconsin. With his experience helping farmers, he understands that successful seed selection has many details to consider. He takes pride in Deer Creek Seed's commitment to high quality seed, fair prices, timely availability, and (most importantly) our broad and versatile seed selection.

Before his career in agriculture, Andy graduated from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls in 1979 with a major in Agricultural Education and minors in Plant Science and Animal Science. He earned his designation as a Certified Crop Advisor with the very first group of advisors certified in Wisconsin! Another proud ag accomplishment for Andy was that the cooperative agronomy department that he managed was awarded the WI Agri-Business Association Outstanding Dealer of The Year.

Andy believes that Deer Creek Seed is special because, as a family-run business, we are able to focus on customer satisfaction and commitment to quality. Andy says, “From the company owners (Bill & Bonnie Leakey), to long term employees, and to the very newest of hires - there is a meaningful and honest commitment to customer satisfaction here.”

Andy also has a hard time picking a favorite seed to sell. He believes our most impactful products are our superior lineup of alfalfa seeds because, according to Andy, “The value they bring to the customer for the price they are offered at is outstanding.” The most fun seed for Andy to sell is our wildlife food plot mixtures. According to Andy, “What's not fun in relation to helping people enjoy their hobbies?” Andy believes the most innovative seed we sell is our cover crop seed because it represents a connection to our heritage in agriculture and our impact to a sustainable food production system.

Outside of work, Andy enjoys volunteering as a referee for high school boys and girls soccer. He likes watching Green Bay Packers football, Brewers baseball, anything WI Badgers, and MU basketball - all while trying hard to do some traveling with his wife and juggling his interest in woodworking and carpentry projects…and reestablishing his commitment to fishing and more hunting!
