Mammoth red clover is a short-lived perennial commonly grown as a cover crop or used as a single cut forage clover. As a soil nitrogen fixer, it can capture up to 70-110 lbs. of nitrogen per acre. It helps protect soil from erosion and improves soil tilth tremendously. It can be sown throughout the season or even frost seeded in late winter. With its fast establishment, this clover is an ideal green manure that provides large amounts of organic matter to the soil. Compared to medium red clover, Mammoth matures about two weeks later and is a much larger plant, reaching 2-3 height feet at maturity. In regions where soil pH or fertility are low, Mammoth red clover does much better than alfalfa as a forage crop. In these regions, it is widely planted for hay production or used within pasture systems.

This seed comes pre-inoculated with rhizobacteria.
