Alsike white clover is a short-lived perennial clover that tolerates wet and acidic soils better than alfalfa and slightly better than red clover. On wet or acidic soils Alsike may be desirable even if it does not persist long in the mixture. While is survives, it will provide nitrogen to the grass, thus lowering fertility costs. Its relative short growth makes it desirable in pasture mixtures.
